General Information - Visiting supporters are situated in the Station End Terrace, which can hold 1,500 and 500 seats in the Main Stand. If you have ever visited Gay Meadow then you are sure to remember the close proximity of the River Severn (which runs behind the Riverside Terrace) to the ground, the ground is often flooded as the above recent picture shows the pitch under 2ft of water. Throughout the ground concessions are offered to both home and away fans. If you plan to go in the home sections of the ground then bare in mind that they are all for members only.
The talk recently has been that the club are planning to relocate the ground to a site at Meole Brace, on the outskirts of the town by the A5. This has come as a direct result of a partnership between Shrewsbury town and a local property developer. Plans include a 10,000 all seater design, which may look a little like Northampton Town's Sixfields Stadium, it is estimated that it will come at a cost of around 8.5 million. At present no planning permission has been granted. However if it were then it is thought that the current site would be converted into a car park.
The Town Centre has an array of pubs to choose from is so is the place to go if you are looking for a pub. Food inside the ground is good as is the general attitude of the club and its stewarding, this all makes for a away trip which I would recommend.

Where to Drink
We recommend the two closest pubs to the ground in Abbey Foregate; 'The Crown, which is two minutes from the ground, is a good pub for pre match banter. A little further up the road is The Dun Cow. Quality ales (Ushers), food (Desperate Dan Pies) and barmaids (Nice!). If you are walking down to the ground from the Town Centre then the small Nags Head pub is worth a stop off, on the way. If the Desperate Dan pies don't fill you up, then there is the Abbey Chip shop, conveniently situated next to the entrance road to the ground!
